Change in Appointment Category - Clinical (MD)

Rationale:

It is necessary to document a change in a clinical faculty member’s appointment category when necessary so that their category is accurate based on their current hospital site, hospital position type, FTE, and % of time spent on academic activities. Different appointment categories also hold different privileges and benefits.

    Change from Clinical Adjunct or Part-time to Full-time:

    IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are already at either assistant professor, associate professor or professor rank in your Clinical part-time or adjunct appointment, then the 2-3 intra-departmental or extra-departmental letters of support are NOT required when changing to a Clinical full-time appointment at the same rank.

    Approval: 

    Appointment Category Changes are approved by the Vice Dean or Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs on behalf of the Dean. An exception occurs when the appointment category change goes from Clinical Adjunct or Part-time to Full-time at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. In this case, the appointment category change will be approved by the FAAC as well as the Vice Dean or Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs on behalf of the Dean.
