Adjunct Clinical (MD) Academic Appointments

Description: 

These physicians work at either:

a) an unaffiliated site (e.g., private practice)

b) an affiliated site, such as fully-affiliated or community-affiliated, and engage in academic activities for less than 20% of their professional time.

This category is not appropriate for active staff at fully-affiliated academic hospitals.

Duration: 

Term of appointment and renewal is at the discretion of the Department Chair, usually one year or less.

Approval: 

Appointments are approved by the Vice Dean and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs on behalf of the Dean.

At professorial rank (i.e., Assistant Professor or higher):

3 reference letters which can be a combination of internal and/or external letters and may include the Chief's letter.
